1.2 Vision and Mission
Mission
To improve soil and water resource quality and ensure the economic upliftment of farmers through:
- Input quality control
- Implementation of various associated programs
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure direct benefits to beneficiaries
- Inclusion of innovative schemes in the Zilla Parishad development plan under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Executive Officer.
The goal is to enhance the living standards of farmers across multiple dimensions and increase both the quality and share of agricultural output in the national agricultural sector.
Vision
Under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Executive Officer, the department aims to:
- Promote the “Water Harvesting and Groundwater Recharge” program across the district to raise the groundwater level.
- Ensure widespread awareness and dissemination of various government agricultural schemes.
- Deliver benefits and guidance of these schemes to the last-mile farmers, thereby integrating them into the mainstream agricultural economy.
Objectives and Function
Scope of Work – Departmental Functions
- To enhance agricultural development and increase production of food grains and cash crops.
- Promote farming using modern agricultural technology.
- At the taluka level, Agricultural Officers and Extension Officers are appointed to implement and monitor schemes.
- Implement various agriculture-related schemes through Gram Sevaks at the village level, under the guidance of the Zilla Parishad.
- Ensure effective execution of departmental schemes in both rain-fed and irrigated farming areas to increase overall crop yield.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality control of seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
- Distribution of agricultural implements such as:
- Spray pumps, irrigation pipes, electric motors/oil engines, and ploughs
- Provided at 50% subsidy to small, marginal, SC/ST, and women farmers
- Provide 100% subsidy to SC/ST farmers for construction of wells, HDPE pipes, etc.
- Promote biogas plant construction and ensure eligible beneficiaries receive central government subsidies for the same.
