The Great Bell and Procession

It is said that only at Padmalaya are there two distinct idols of Lord Ganesha. These idols are made of coral, with one idol having a trunk on the right side and the other on the left. Both idols are Swayambhu (self-manifested). The temple is built inside a stone structure. The renowned Saint, Sadguru Govind Shastri Maharaj Barve, who attained Riddhi and Siddhi, restored this temple. It is also mentioned in the Ganapati Purana that this Ganesh temple holds great significance. The design of the temple is said to be modeled after the Shiva temple at Kashi Ishweshwar. A large bell weighing 440 kg is located at the entrance of the temple.

Temple Architecture – Hemadpanthi Style

The temple is ancient, and its construction follows the Hemadpanthi style. Inside the temple, the two idols of Lord Ganesha, one with a right trunk and one with a left trunk, are placed. There is a grand bell at the temple’s entrance, and nearby, a massive archway greets devotees. Approximately two to three kilometers from the temple, within the dense forest, lies Bhima Kund, which is also associated with local legends.

The temple is located near a lake, which enhances the temple’s beauty. The lake is adorned with various colorful lotus flowers, attracting both pilgrims and tourists. During the monsoon season, the entire forest becomes lush and green, providing a breathtaking view of nature’s splendor. Devotees visiting Shri Kshetra Padmalaya can fully immerse themselves in both spiritual and natural beauty.

Crowds During Chaturthi

Padmalaya temple is widely known and is a significant pilgrimage site for Ganesha devotees. As a result, on Angarki Chaturthi and Sankashti Chaturthi, a large number of devotees visit the temple to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha. There are also various programs held at the temple, including the popular Navas (vows) to be fulfilled, especially by the female devotees. The temple sees an overwhelming influx of devotees during the Ganesh festival, and the temple authorities have made excellent arrangements for the comfort and convenience of the pilgrims.
