    Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015

    The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015 is a revolutionary legislation that grants citizens of the state the right to timely, transparent, and efficient public services. To ensure strict implementation of this law, the Maharashtra State Commission for Right to Public Services has been established.

    Under this Act, citizens are entitled to access various public services, the list of which can be viewed on the RTS Maharashtra mobile app or the Aaple Sarkar web portal. Applications for these services can also be submitted online.

    If a service is delayed or denied without sufficient justification, the citizen has the right to:

    • File a First Appeal to a higher authority,
    • File a Second Appeal to the next higher authority,
    • And a Third and Final Appeal to the State Commission.

    Maharashtra State Commission for Right to Services

    The Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, 2015 ensures that transparent, efficient, and time-bound services are provided to the citizens by the State Government. The State Commission for Right to Services has been empowered to ensure effective implementation of this Act. The head of the Commission is the Chief Commissioner for Public Services, currently Mrs. Chitra Kulkarni, who previously served as the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra.

    Citizens can use the RTS Maharashtra mobile app or the ‘Aaple Sarkar’ web portal to:

    • View the list of services available under the Act,
    • Submit online applications for those services.

    If services are delayed or denied without sufficient justification, citizens can:

    • File a First and Second Appeal with senior officers in their department,
    • And, under Section 18(1) of the Act, file a Third Appeal to the Commission within 60 days of the decision on the Second Appeal using Form V.
